19Licence, updates and backups

This chapter covers the three screens that keep an installation of SYNERGY Management Gateway entitled, current and recoverable:
- Licence – activating the product, seeing which modules your licence includes and how many user accounts it covers, and deciding whether to share usage statistics with Synergy.
- Updates – letting the platform update itself from Synergy on a schedule you control.
- Backups – exporting the platform's configuration and backing up its database.
All three are in the System group of the navigation menu. They are deliberately reachable even when the licence is not active, because they are how an installation is licensed, repaired and recovered.
